September is always bittersweet for me. I love the Autumn, the changing leaves and the hint of a chill in the air. But with it comes the time when I have to wave my children off to school and nursery again, after our long summer of lazy days, family fun and late nights.
Don’t get me wrong, its not all idyllic. There have been times when I could have happily shipped them all off to the nearest island, when they couldn’t get along or drove me up the wall. But I adore my little people, they are awesome. And I like having them around. So, although they couldn’t wait to go back, leaving them is always a wrench.
So its time to look back on what we got up to. As always, my camera was never far away as we went on our adventures. We didn’t go away on holiday, deciding instead to have a “staycation”. Our challenge was to try new places, free or cheap, and enjoy some of our favourite places too.
We discovered some gems which we had never been to before, places like The Hop farm (its changed a bit since I went as a child!) and Bedgebury pine forest, with its play trail and Gruffalo trail.
The children got wet, muddy, hungry, tired. Tried new things, enjoyed old things. We made memories to last forever, and I will always treasure the looks of wonder and determination on their little faces.
